The
weather and climate of the Jaisalmer is Arid in nature
typical of any Desert region. Summers are hot but winters are
relatively very pleasant.
Weather in summer
Jaisalmer is very hot in the summers. Summer season persists
from April to August. The daytime temperature remains very high
and usually touches around 42°C. Nights are relatively cooler
typical of arid desert climate and the temperature comes down to
as low as 25 °C.
Weather in winter
Winters in Jaisalmer are a lot cooler with day temperature
remaining pleasant around 24°C. And nights are chilly with
temperature getting as low as 7 to 8°C. The winter falls around
Mid-November and continues till February end.
Weather in Monsoon
As Jaisalmer is situated amid Thar Desert monsoon is as good as
negligible. Though western disturbance brings around 15
centimeters of annual rainfall, Jaisalmer remains dry for most
parts of the year.
Jaisalmer Fort:
The 12th century Jaisalmer Fort has been regarded as one of the most
magnificent and invincible forts in Rajasthan. Built over the Trikuta hill,
Jaisalmer Fort is 250 ft tall structure surrounded by a 30 ft high sandstone
wall with 99 bastions. The Fort houses the famous Jain Temple, a place worth
visiting on your Jaisalmer tour.
Jaisalmer Havelis:
Once the residence of wealthy merchants, the havelis (mansions) of Jaisalmer
are famous for their artistic designs and decorations. Their exclusive cutwork,
yellow and red stone treatment, and the bracket-shaped decoration of peacocks,
never fail to mesmerize the visitors. The Patwon-ki-Haveli,
Salim-Singh-ki-Haveli and Nathmalji-ki-Haveli are major tourist
attractions in Jaisalmer.
The Desert National Park:
Situated near Jaisalmer, The Desert National Park is one of the largest
national parks in India, covering an area of 3,100 sq km. The Park is known for
its fragile ecosystem and unique flora and fauna.
